They do, yes! Stinging nettles are used in some medicines and actually have been for hundreds of years! I’m having to do a bit of reading because I didn’t know this but you know how you feel pain when you get stung? Well, if you get stung on an area that is already painful – the pain actually gets better! It’s suggested to reduce how activated your immune system is. It’s been used to treat painful joints and muscles, eczema and arthritis over the years!

They can be used in tea and cooking! I’ve made tea with them in Scouts which was really nice, and also they can be used as medicine. Ella has a great answer for how it works as a medicine!

Thank goodness Ella did some reading because I can’t say that I know. My only answer would be that in life if something can’t fight back against its then it has a defence mechanism. So my guess is that they release a toxin so certain animals or insects don’t eat them and it ensures the protection of the species. Like Thomas I’ve only known them to be used in tea, I’ve heard nettle tea is quite nice.
