There are some diseases, like the flu, that 1) there are so many different types and 2) evolve so quickly that vaccines can’t keep up with them. Every year the flu vaccine has to be reproduced based upon scientists predictions of which strain will become active. Sometimes scientists get it wrong and doctors vaccinate against the wrong kind meaning people may still become ill. People are normally ok if they’re healthy and catch the flu but it can be very dangerous for the elderly and babies. Because it’s maybe not such an awful disease scientists receive less money to try and fix it. For example, diseases like cancer are very terrible therefore cancer scientists get a lot of money to try and find cures – hopefully we will one day as a result!
