Microalgae are used for a bunch of things! You can buy powdered microalgae as a health supplement for shakes and smoothies. They have a lot of great nutrients in them. They are also used in cosmetics and skincare because they have anti-oxidants and anti-aging properties. There has been a lot of research into making biofuels from microalgae, it could replace fossil fuels and will be much better for the environment as microalgae actually take in carbon dioxide. They produce lots of pigments which are used as food colourants and textiles too. I am looking at their potential as pharmaceuticals or medicines, particularly antibiotics
