Question: where do you see yourself in a couple of years?

Hmm, that’s a good question and something I often think about! I will be paid to work on my PhD until 2021 … so another 3 years! After that I would like to move to a different country to work. I lived in Sweden for a year and had a really great time so maybe I’ll go back there. It can get quite cold in the winter though so maybe I’ll move somewhere sunny and hot, like California! After that I think I’d like to move to London to work because it’s a bit closer to my friends and family.

In a couple of years, I will have just returned from the industrial placement that is part of my PhD. I will be entering the final year of my PhD and along with finishing experiments and writing my thesis, I will be looking into my next career move and adventure! I would like to do a post doctoral fellowship, which is continuing work in a research lab but I will have a bit more responsibility and will not have to write a thesis.

I found school a bit boring, but it wasn’t the worst. I didn’t start to really love studying until the third year of university when I was 22! Do you like school?
