Ohhh I hated homework at school!! But I suppose it is an incredibly important part of learning because it teaches you to be independent and find answers out yourself. Plus .. teachers don’t have enough time to teach you everything! So I’ve had a look and it’s believed an Italian teacher called Roberto Nevilis invented homework in the early 1900’s as a punishment for his students!! I always knew it was a punishment! :L

I imagine that as long as education has existed, students might have been asked to complete activities outside of school hours, which I guess you can consider homework! Even things like practicing reading at home whilst at Primary School, through to reading academic papers whilst at university. There has been teaching at what is now Oxford University since 1096, so there is a good chance that student then had homework!

Brilliant homework by Ella there. I hated homework when I was at school and didn’t see the point of it. If you asked be back then I would have said some evil teacher who hated their job and didn’t like the pupils. However I’m now much older and somewhat wiser I like to think and I’ve come to realise that homework is really important. It helps you to understand the subject that much better and it prepares you for independent thinking for later in life like when you go to college, uni and even work.
