I work in a lab but have been lucky enough to go to theatre to watch surgery and you’re right surgeons are really inspiring along with the amazing team they work with!
I think my longest shift in the lab was about 15 hours. We had to get a bunch of samples ready to be sent away by a certain date and a key piece of equipment was broken until a couple of days before the deadline. So we had a takeaway together, went into the lab, and blasted Disney songs. We were singing and laughing whilst everyone did their bit to finish the work on time. Doing these kinds of shifts is not common, and should not be expected, but to be honest sometimes I get so focused on what I am doing that I don’t notice the time fly by.

I agree a good song (and singing) can often pass the time and lift spirits.
